The ASEAN Patentscope project was initiated by the ASEAN Patent Examination Co-operation (ASPEC) Task Force in 2012 and endorsed by ASEAN Working Group on IP Cooperation (AWGIPC) in 2015 after the adoption of the WIPO Publish technical platform to automate the data extraction, data dissemination and searching among all ASEAN IP offices. Indonesia has contributed extensively towards leading the project and hosting the regional patent database
